We don’t use YouTube®

While we like YouTube as general consumer, we do not place our videos on it.  Organizations of any kind, including employers with any recruiting material, give up all privacy rights and virtual ownership of the video, when placed on YouTube, which can taken and used by anyone.

 

Additionally, your videos can be filed by YouTube but alongside unrelated video content from different companies, including possibly objectionable or offensive videos.

 

When it comes to sending an important message to jobseekers and their families about your company’s mission and culture and beliefs, in addition to the opportunity to compete for the best talent in the career search marketplace, we are big believers that all videos produced in our professional studios remaining proprietary and “under the roof” of our product for the client (in other words, they are private, and nobody else can use them, and they will not be filed next to another organization competing for your candidates, or an objectionable video).

 

While some may argue there is a benefit that videos on YouTube may attract candidates, we think there are many ways to attract jobseekers that don’t require releasing all privacy rights, especially because jobseekers need to be acquired while in transition.

 

There are other issues with YouTube, which include how social media video sharing formats are out-dueling it in popularity, but privacy is the big deal to us.  We don’t use YouTube for the video content produced for our Online Job Tours – they are in-house and within the confines of the productions, although any of them can be shared on social media and in emails.

 

  • Imagine another company using videos on YouTube that you purchased/produced, without your permission, to sell their products or services, or to recruit the same professionals.  Wait, you already gave them permission by posting the video on YouTube in the first place!
